It takes a lot of strength to seek counseling—we're glad you're here, and we can help.

How we’re different

Our highly trained counselors are also military spouses or family members.

So you won’t waste time or energy explaining military-related matters in counseling sessions.

When your therapist already understands military life, it can reduce misunderstandings regarding deployments, pressure, expectations, and other experiences that typically weigh heavily on military service members’ minds.

We already know that you and your family may be isolated from your support systems and other resources. We're aware that it feels pointless to make connections when you know your next move is just years or months away…

We understand firsthand.

our promise

Each counselor at Reintjes Counseling is focused on providing expert military counseling that's confidential, judgment-free, compassionate, and tailored to your needs and experience.

We understand the importance of maintaining your privacy and confidentiality for the sake of your career. Therapists on base may need to break your confidentiality in situations that a civilian therapist (like us) would never need to.

There are very few circumstances in which we would disclose anything about what you have done in your past. Your attendance in therapy is kept private. Read FAQs about confidentiality.

FAQs

  • All personal information that you share within the therapy session remains strictly confidential, in accordance with professional ethical standards and legal requirements. Your information can only be shared with your signed release form.

We don’t hold any paper notes. We work only with HIPAA compliant platforms. We are conservative in our note taking, always keeping the patient’s best interest in mind. We do this, so everyone can feel comfortable.

  • Yes, we are an in-network provider with Tricare.

  • We accept Tricare. Carefirst, Blue Cross Blue Shield (including Anthem).

  • Diagnostic evaluation / Intake: $250

    60-minute Individual Therapy Session: $250

  • Seeking therapy or mental health treatment while serving in the military does not automatically result in being discharged. In fact, the military encourages service members to seek help when they need it, as mental health is taken very seriously within the armed forces.

However, certain conditions or circumstances might lead to a medical evaluation board, which will assess whether the service member can continue to serve. These situations are usually based on the severity and impact of the mental health condition and the individual's ability to perform their duties.

In most cases, seeking therapy alone does not result in being kicked out of the military. Again, service members are encouraged to seek help for any mental health issues they may experience.

  • Actively seeking professional care for mental health issues does NOT affect your security clearance nor does it jeopardize your eligibility for a security clearance.

  • The military is primarily concerned with your ability to perform your duties safely and effectively. If your therapy and any related conditions do not impact your performance, there should be minimal concern.

The military has now become much more accepting of Tricare utilizing its out of network benefits, and making sure families can provide stability for themselves and their families and partnerships.

  • CBT, ACT, Solution-focused, Prolonged Exposure and Cognitive Processing Therapy and EMDR

  • For military members, sessions are mature, solution-focused, and targeted to make the most of our time.

Improving your life and well-being doesn’t happen overnight, but we aim to make the most of each session to reduce the frequency of visits.

We are not the therapists who want you to keep coming to therapy forever. Our goal is to work together and get you feeling self-sufficient.

  • While the unique experiences of each military counselor vary, we are all trained to work with military members and combat veterans, and we’ll do our best to match you up with the therapist who is the best fit for you.

That said, if after reading our clinician biographies you are leaning towards a specific clinician, please mention your preference when you fill out your contact form.

  • Our practice does not include a psychiatrist on staff, however we work with both insurance-accepting and self-pay psychiatrists.

The option of using medication is a decision which is between you, your psychiatrist, and your therapist. We aim to provide as much information as we can, so you can feel most comfortable in your decision.

We’re here to support you when you’re ready.
