Becky Thieman, LCSW, CSOTP
Clinical Supervisor
As a clinical social worker with extensive experience in trauma, abuse, anxiety and relationship issues, Becky is committed to providing compassionate, effective, collaborative and supportive supervision to those seeking LCSW licensure.
She believes supervision is a shared experience in which both the supervisor and supervisee grow together. Becky strives to create a safe, understanding space for supervisees to be vulnerable, curious and challenged. She aims for each supervisee to be supported as they identify their own professional paths and specialities through experience and education.
Similarly, Becky remains curious in her own practice and actively seeks continuing education, recent research and case collaboration with colleagues. She is especially interested in topics related to PTSD, sex and intimacy, abuse, long-distance relationships and infidelity.
Becky’s background includes working in residential treatment settings with adolescents and families, domestic violence shelters and international refugee organizations. With a focus on client-centered, strengths-based approaches, she utilizes techniques stemming from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Systems Theory and Attachment Theory to help clients heal and grow.
Supervisees are encouraged to explore and continually educate themselves on the therapeutic modalities and interventions relevant to their own professional development goals. Supervision sessions will help nurture each individual’s unique interests and strengths, with the aim of providing competent, safe, ethical and transformative treatment for clients.
